Plummer Building: Offices, Tours & Architecture
Named after Henry S. Plummer, M.D., this designated National Historic Landmark was once the home of all medical facilities and an extensive library on the Mayo Clinic grounds. Today, the Plummer Building remains an integral part of Mayo Clinic, accommodating many administrative, academic and support functions. Its impressive architecture is adorned with bronze doors weighing two tons, and marble floors imported from around the world fill the lobby. At night, the bell tower lights up the Rochester skyline, and during the holiday season, the south facing wall is illuminated with tree-shaped colored lights. Tour the historical suite and see artifacts from Drs. Will and Charles Mayo. The Towers at the Kahler Grand Hotel puts you within moments of this and other sights.
