Quarry Hill Nature Center: Live Animal Exhibits, Skiing & Hiking

Situated within 300 acres of rural park land in Rochester, MN, Quarry Hill Nature Center is home to over 50 different species of live animals, a 1,700 gallon fish tank, an indoor bee hive, a children's library, and a bird watching room. There are paved and natural hiking trails, as well as a restored prairie, quarry, man-made sandstone caves and a man-made pond for outdoor recreation. In the winter months, cross-country skis and snowshoes are available for rent for use inside the park. The nature center offers hand-on learning in a fun environment for visitors of all ages to enjoy. There are classes offered to preschoolers through adults, and a summer camp program from June to August.

Admission is free and open to the public year round. The nature center is also free and open all but four days of the year.

    Quarry Hill Nature Center features an Exploration Hall filled with over 35 varieties of live animals and a 1700-gallon aquarium that is home to seven varieties of fish and a Saw-whet Owl. Get hands-on fun while learning about different turtles, snakes, frog, birds, and fish. There is also a honeybee hive for an up-close look at the internal operations of a real working honeybee colony.
